DR. AND MRS. JAMES BULLITT HOUSE
1930s
Two-story, brick Colonial Revival, with pedimented entrance stoop, eight-over-twelve window sash on the first story, eight-over-eight on second story, exterior end brick chimney, and west side wing with sun porches at both levels. Built for Dr. and Mrs. James B. Bullitt. Dr. Bullitt was a professor in the UNC Medical School.

The house appears largely unaltered from the 1993 survey with the exception of the opening and screening of a formerly fully-enclosed, first-story porch on the left (west) elevation. The second-story porch remains enclosed, but the first-story screened porch has wide, square columns and a Chippendale-style railing. The nine-light-over-four-panel door, centered on the façade, is recessed slightly, sheltered by a pedimented porch supported by fluted square columns. A one-story, hip-roofed wing on the right (east) elevation has an inset porch supported by fluted square columns that sheltered a nine-light-over-one-panel door. It is unclear when the additions at the rear were constructed as they are not visible in 1993 survey photos. A two-story, gabled wing, centered on the rear (north) elevation connects to a one-story gabled wing with a bay window on the north elevation a basement-level garage. A one-story, side-gabled wing projects from the east elevation of this wing with an uncovered deck at its rear. County tax records date the building to 1938 and it appears on the 1949 Sanborn map.

In the 2013 survey, this was deemed a Contributing Building.
